Rethinking border modernisation:
Lessons from 20 years in the field
Pedro Alves became Senior Vice President of SITA Borders on 1 July, having joined 18 months earlier to lead
its global business development. He previously held leadership roles at Logica/CGI, Vision-Box, and IDEMIA,
helping to pioneer technologies that have reshaped travel and how borders operate.
What experience do you
bring to this new position?
I joined SITA Borders at the
beginning of last year to lead
Borders global business

development, building on a
background in the air travel
industry, with special focus on
working with governments and
borders. I’ve led teams globally
and been directly involved in
GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC SECTOR JOURNAL SUMMER 2025
deals for strategic borders and
passenger facilitation across the
globe. For nearly two decades,
I’ve collaborated with customers
and governments worldwide to
enhance passenger processing
and to support their mission to
elevate international cooperation
and interoperability – ultimately
helping to keep their nation’s
borders secure.
