PAS 2080 is the globally
recognised standard for
managing whole-life carbon
in the built environment.
Developed by BSI, it provides a
framework for reducing carbon
emissions across the entire
lifecycle of infrastructure – from
strategic planning and design
to construction, operation, and
decommissioning.
“Public Sector bodies are under
increasing pressure to deliver
infrastructure that is not only
cost-effective but also aligned
with net-zero targets,” said
Duncan Price, Partner, Global
Sustainability & Climate Lead,
Buro Happold.

“Our PAS 2080 certi昀椀cation is
an important component in Buro
Happold’s award-winning 昀椀ve
step design thinking approach.
The approach combines wholelife asset thinking that balances
cost, quality and carbon. Our
strategies mitigate climate
resilience and minimise the loss
of nature alongside standardised
designs optimised through
computationally advanced
analysis proven to unlock new
solutions.
“This means we can support
clients in making informed,
carbon-conscious decisions from
the earliest stages of project
development. It underscores
